This ice sculpture of ACNBA’s 20th anniversary logo drew a lot of attention and admiration and was one of the main focal points of the evening.
You know you’ve hit it out of the park when the mayor of the city suggests we make our Gala an annual event! But that’s how it went on November 24th at the Wall at Nipissing University/Canadore College’s Student Centre. 125 people took in this evening dedicated to our 20th anniversary as a social services organization and as a kick off to AIDS Awareness Week in North Bay. Thanks to Steve Bitonti, Operations Manager at the Student Centre, the dinner was extraordinary, the service flawless, the decor spectacular and the venue marvelous.
Guest speaker, Dr. Gretchen Roedde, took everyone on a visual trip to Africa recounting stories of her years there working on mother/child health and HIV/AIDS. Jake and the Fundamentals rocked the night with their legendary blues catalogue. Then DJ Neon Nomad kept the dance floor moving until things wrapped up at 1:00 am.
There was a wonderful selection of silent auction items generously donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. The Red Treasure Chests key draw was a huge hit with all 100 keys being snapped up! A diamond, sapphire ring, Three Dog Night concert and Warhorse production made up the three major treasure chest prizes.
ACNBA board chair, Jason Maclennan, encouraged everyone to enjoy the evening during his brief opening remarks. It was clear that everyone took that direction to heart! He has suggested that we do it all again for our 25th anniversary! We’ll see what 2017 brings!
