Nursing teams from ACNBA, Reseau Access Network in Sudbury and the Soo’s Group Health Centre are geared up and heading out to seven centres across the northeast to provide free testing for hepatitis C. This marks the second year for the Hepatitis C Testing Northern Tour. Teams will be stopping in Espanola, Wawa, Pic Mobert, Chapleau, Cochrane, Timmins and Kirkland Lake starting September 12 and running through to September 16. This year’s tour is taking on a M*A*S*H theme. Team members will be dressed like cast from the very popular 70s sitcom. But instead of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, M*A*S*H stands for Mobilizing Access to Services for Hepatitis. The tour is taking hepatitis testing to those in the outlying areas where access to testing isn’t always available or convenient, while raising awareness about the services available at the three agencies involved. Pharmaceutical firm abbvie and McDougall Energy are generously sponsoring this event.
