May is Hepatitis C Awareness Month

April 26th, 2018 at 3:45 pm

Hepatitis C has been called the ghost virus as it can take many years, even decades for symptoms to appear after a person is infected. But there have been many exciting advances in the treatment of Hep C. There is now a cure. The virus can be eradicated by way of a simple pill regimen. Also, the province has recently announced it will cover the cost of Hep C treatment for Ontarians no matter what stage of the infection. However, there is still no vaccine to prevent the virus from spreading. That’s where awareness plays a very important role and what the month of May is all about for us here at ACNBA. We’ll be holding awareness events around North Bay throughout the month. A full agenda will be posted here very soon.
