ACNBA held a street gathering on the Ferguson Block parkette in downtown North Bay to officially mark World Hepatitis Day in the city July 26th.
The event included an official proclamation by North Bay Mayor, Al McDonald, free cake, a survey for a gift certificate, a group hepatitis themed poster painting and distribution of a wide range of awareness materials.
About 30 people joined in on the event listening to expert advice and enjoying a piece of WHD cake. The goal of the event was to spread awareness about the disease which has infected approximately 1,800 North Bay residents and about 600,000 Canadians, many of them not aware of their infection.
World Hepatitis Day takes place officially July 28th.
