A capacity crowd braved one of the season’s worst snowstorms and quickly snapped up tables at ACNBA’s 11th annual Lads N’ Lashes fundraiser February 24th in North Bay. The weather outside was cold and frightful, but the show inside the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 was more than delightful and one hot ticket.
Lads N’ Lashes, the Toronto-based drag troupe, made up of performers Robin Lauren, Chris Edwards and Heroine Marks, got caught in the snowstorm on the last hour of their journey north but were able to get into North Bay on time and put on a sizzling show.
Show organizer and ACNBA Support Services Coordinator, Steve Lamb says it was without a doubt the best show yet, made all the more evident by the sellout crowd and the approximately $9,000 raised, the event’s highest total ever.
Sets included impersonations of Cher, Adele, Lady Gaga, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Liza Minelli and Pink as well as Chris Edwards’ show-stopping and poignant tribute to the late Whitney Houston.
